Make Invitations With The Cricut Expression

If you need to make invitations in large quantities and could do without the tedious work of cutting and punching small pieces of paper endlessly, then the Cricut Expression is THE machine for you! OK I will admit it openly and up front, that this little gadget certainly does cost a pretty penny, but it will pay for itself in time and is SO fun to use. You will find yourself using this for so many uses around the house and on the holidays. It's so fun to use you'll even find yourself looking for reasons to use it!

The Cricut and Cricut Expression is a personal cutting machine. You can load materials like paper, fabric, felt, and vinyl into the machine and it will precision cut letters and shapes for you. Very nifty! You can buy cartridges with oodles of shapes to choose from as well as different themes. There are even cartridges featuring things like Disney characters and storybook/cartoon characters. Great for kids birthday invitations!

I myself tend to make a lot of invitations for myself, friends, and clients, with the Cricut. But I also use it for creating my baby's scrapbooks, and for helping my step daughter with her school projects. I use it for decorative accents around the house, stenciling, and for holiday crafts.

One of my biggest and best discoveries lately is the Sure Cuts A Lot software that you can purchase for your Cricut Machine. This software allows you to cut most any fonts from your computer, as well as cut shapes from SVG files which you can download from some websites or create yourself with free programs like Inkscape. This virtually eliminates the need to spend boat loads of money on the cartridges for the Cricut, which can become VERY costly. Be sure to check out the SCAL website where you can download a free trial of their software.

I intend to create several new invitation tutorials using the Cricut, and Sure Cuts A LOT, so stay tuned. I will attempt to create some cool SVG files for download too. If any of you out there have your own ideas, tips, and tutorials for how to make invitations with the Cricut, or the Cricut and Sir Cuts A Lot, feel more than free to add your own page at our Handmade Invitations Show And Tell Page, or email me and I'll let you know where to send your pictures, tutorials, and/or SVG files.
