Creating And Printing Invitations

1. How do the templates work?

Our printable invitation templates are interactive static PFDF files. You need a PDF reader to use and interact with the templates. We recommend downloading the latest version of Adobe Reader from Adobe.com.
Using our templates you can completely customize the text/wording of your invitations. This means that you can type your own invitation wording inot our templates, and then choose your own fonts, change the sizing, alignment, text color, and more.

2. How many invitations can I print?

With each single template you can print as many invitations as you want to. We do not allow commercial use of the templates. They are for personal use only. If you wish to purchase a template for re-sale please contact us for more information.

3. I'm not very crafty. Are these invitations hard to make?

These templates are designed to make creating your own handmade invitations as easy as possible. Simply change the wording and personalize it to your desire, then print the template onto some heavy cardstock using your printer's highest quality settings for best results. The templates come with cutting guidelines to help you cut them to a standard 5" by 7" invitation. You can use them as is, or go a step further and add a coordinating paper background, ribbon, glitter or rhinestones, or even place them into a pocketfold or pochette. The sky is the limit!

4. What kind of paper or materials should I use?

My favorite paper to use is any plain old 110 lb. white cardstock. But to punch it up a bit I also add materials such as scrapbooking papers, colored cardstocks, glitter glue, flocking, ribbons, rhinestones, and more.

5. Can I get custom colors or graphics for the invitation templates?

Certainly! Just shoot an email to us through the contact page stating which invitation you are interested in and what you would like customized. We will get back to you shortly to work with you on a custom template.

6. Can I use the graphics in the invitation templates on other projects outside of the templates?

The graphics and images shown within the templates are not for sale as graphics, neither can the graphics be ripped or copied form the templates. The templates are intended for use "as-is". However, I do tend to be rather accommodating to my customers. If there is something you need customized just let me know. If it is an easy fix I will do it for you free of charge, or for a small fee where more complicated pieces are concerned. Hey, it never hurts to ask, right?

7. What if I get stumped and need some help?

There is always someone here to help at Do-it-yourself-invitations.com. If you are having problems let us know! We will get back to you ASAP to fix whatever the problem or help you to format your template.

8. Can I use the templates for commercial purposes?

No, the invitation templates are not for use commercially nor are the graphics. Whether printing the actual invitations for sale, or selling the template, it is completely prohibited.

General How-to Facts and Q&A

1. How do I change the text?

Download and save your template to a location on your computer where you will know how to find it. Yes and this is something I use quite often. There is only so much space within the templates and sometimes you have to adjust spacing to get everything to fit just right. To adjust the sapcing open the text tool palette. Highlight the text you would like to adjust the spacing on (if you are using different sized fonts you will need to do each line seperately). Click the "More" button. This will bring up a new window. Choose "paragraph" in the tabs at the top of the window. Under the "spacing" field, enter a number within the space to adjust upper or lower spacing. To make the text wider apart add any number and click "close". We are always here to help!

6. Can I add my own clip art?

Unfortunately, no. But if you do a search for picture fonts you can get clip art images into the template using one of them.

Purchasing

1. What types of payments do you accept?

We accept credit and personal check using Paypal. You do not need a Paypal account any longer to pay using your credit card or check/debit. Please be advised that if you are paying by check using Paypal there is a 3-4 day delay in waiting for the check to clear. I have no control over this. It is Paypal's policy.

2. Can I view the template before purchasing?

You certainly may. Every invitation template has a watermarked sample copy to view for free. If you need to see samples of any other items please let us know and we can email them to you. All sample copies come with full watermarks.

3. What if I decide not to use the template? Can I return it for a refund?

Unfortunatley, no. But that is why we provide sample copies up front. All samples are interactive and able to print at full quality. Remember, to get a great quality print you need to adjust your printer settings to print high resolution images.

If in the event that you are unhappy with the template (it is malfunctioning or you are having trouble formatting the type) never hesitate to contact me. I will help you in any way I can to make sure everything works out for you!

Trouble Shooting

1. My template will not allow me to change the font or size.

If your template seems to be freezing up it may be taking a bit of time loading, or registering the fonts you are using. First try changing to a different font to make sure it is not a registered users liscense on the font that is causing the problem. Next try clicking your cursor into one of the other fields on the page. Doing so adjusts settings globally. If this does not correct the problem try re-setting the template by closing it and re-opening. If all else fails let us know and we will correct the problem for you.

2. There is a small black box in the bottom right corner. How do I get rid of it?

This is simply the file telling you there is too much text to fit in the space available. It is alerting you to the fact that it may cut off some text while printing. 95% of the time the template is reading extra white space as "text". To get rid of this little imperfection, place your cursor at the very bottom of the text on your template. Press the down arrow button until the cursor no longer moves. Now start pressing the "delete" or backspace button until all of the white space has been deleted. The box will disappear!

3. The font I have chosen will not work with the template.

Most likely the font has a licensing restriction. Many of these fonts will print from the template but will not allow you to save them onto the file. Some will pop up a indow saying you cannot use them, but will still print and save! You will usually here an alert sound go off when you try to use these fonts. If the font will not work at all you need to either invest in a licensed copy of the font or choose another.

4. When I print my invitations they look grainy and less "sharp" than I imagined.

The templates are created with the finest quality vector art files and saved to the highest resolution. Grainy prints are generally the fault of your printer. Set your printer settings to the highest quality settings for your printer and then run a test print. You will immediately see the difference!

5. There is not enough room for the text or fonts I have chosen. What do I do?

Adjust the spacing. To do so choose the "more" option from the text tool pallete. Choose the "paragraphs" tab and then adjust the spacing settings by typing numbers into the above or below fields. For creating less space between lines type in a negative number by using the "mminus" sign, such as "-5". Click on the "close" button and adjust accordingly from there on out.
