Handmade Baby Shower Invitations
My sister and I are planning my cousin's baby shower, who is due to give birth in December. This is her first baby, and a girl, so we really wanted it to be special and are hand creating many of the details such as decorations, favors, and the INVITATIONS!
I made these invitations using some decorative paper, cardstock, ribbon, and my Cricut Expression. I absolutely LOVE the Cricut!! It has really come in handy for planning this shower, too. :)
I started by cutting some 12 by 12 inch yellow cardstock in half, and then folded them in half to create 6" by 6" folded cards. I used the Cricut to cut out rectangles of paper for the top of the card. I just set it to cut 6" rectangles, and affixed them to the top with a glue runner. I used a cute decorative paper that had little pink, blue, and green umbrellas printed all over it for the "shower" theme. Next I measured the space left between the decorative paper and the bottom of the card, to fit a cut pram decoration. I used the "Potpourri" cartridge that came with my Cricut which just happened to have some cute baby themed shapes to cut. I used a combination of different colored cardstock papers and decorative paper to piece together the decoration. For example, I cut the baby blanket form a green polka dot paper I had, and the pram itself was cut from pink cardstock, the wheels and handle from orange cardstock, etc...
I finished everything off by attaching a ribbon on top of where the papers met together and set a bow on top. I got the idea after browsing through some of the tutorials on the site. I went shopping after for some baby themed papers and stuff and just kind of winged it form there.
They came out so cute! I can't wait to see how the guests like them! :-)
