DIY Copper, Midnight, & Fern Invitations

Finished invitations!

Supplies:
- 8 1/2" x 11" card stock in midnight blue from Papersource
- Copper Metallic card stock from Michaels
- Moss Metallic card stock from Scrapbooking store
- Glue dots (lots & lots of glue dots!)
- Moss green non wired ribbon - 2" wide

When I bought my original supplies, I had a completely different invitation in mind. I kept playing with it and got more and more frustrated. So I decided to go with a pocketfold style instead. With the help of my mom cutting & scoring the pocketfolds, I created some beautiful invitations.

Pocketfold instructions:

The blue card stock was turned on its side so it was 11" wide & 8.5" tall. We trimmed off 2.5" along the bottom so the dimensions were 11" wide & 6" tall. On the left side, a 1" section was scored to be the closing flap.

I then designed the inserts using Microsoft Project. They were printed out on white linen card stock, then mounted on moss green metallic card stock.

I also designed a monogram that was printed onto a 2" square & I mounted those onto 2.5" copper card stock squares.

Assembly:
I used glue dots to adhere the invitation panel on the left side of the invitation. The hotel, directions, and RSVP cards were tied by a thin green ribbon, then mounted to the right side of the pocketfold.

On the outside of the closed invitation, our monogram was attached to the flap along with a moss green ribbon band.

I then put the whole thing into a metallic copper A7 envelope.

Thank you so much for sharing. This is my favorite one!!! i am here trying to do it now and am wondering, when you use the 1" on the left hand side for a flap..... are you cutting 1" off the right side for closure? what are you doing to close it? Thank you so much!!!

Answer from Do-it-yourself-invitations.com:
You do not actually want to "cut" the 1" flap from the end, but to SCORE it, and then fold it over to close the invitation like a pocket. Scoring is basically leaving an indent in the paper to force the grain to fold nicely. For example, when you buy a blank card there is a crease lined perfectly down the middle of the card right where you want to fold it, and because of that crease, the card will fold perfectly right down the middle, crisp and clean.
Many sliding blade paper cutters have scoring attachments. Although, I have been known to use a ruler and anything with a blunt pointy tip. I've used everything from a bic pen that ran out of ink, to the tong of a fork, and even a wooden chop stick skewer thingy. LOL!

Good Luck!!
