Make Your Own Birth Announcement Candy Wrapper

Making your own birth announcement candy wrapper is really easy and is a super cute idea to share your new bundle of joy with friends and family. So get out a few craft supplies and get your candy bars ready! I'm gonna show you how. Materials needed to make your own birth announcement candy wrapper: baby themed or cute decorative paper plain white printer paper glue runner matching ribbon and of course... candy bars To start you will need a bag or two of candy bars. It is best to use a candy bar that is flat and has both an inner foil wrapper and outer printed wrapper. I used a good old Hersey bar to do the trick. Step One: Remove the outer wrapper from the candy bar. Do not tear it. Use scissors or a cutting blade to gently remove it from the candy. If you are using a cutting blade be careful not to slice through the candy bar's inner foil lining. Spread the label out and use a ruler to measure it's dimensions. Write them down because these are the dimensions that you will make your own birth announcement candy wrapper with. When measuring the width of the paper make sure and add about an inch. You will need the extra space to overlap the edges when you put the label back on. Once you have got your measurements it is OK to simply throw the wrapper away. Step Two: Cut your decorative paper into rectangles to fit over the candy bar as the birth announcement wrapper. If you've got plenty of time and don't mind doing the work, you can cut the paper yourself with a good hand cutter. If you want to make things a whole lot easier just take the paper to a local copy or print shop to have them cut on a cutting machine. It's super fast and cheap. Once the paper is cut to the required size, it is time to re-wrap your candy bars. It is best to use a permanent adhesive glue runner to affix the
wrapper. Start on the underside by holding the wrapper in place in the middle of the bar. carefully wrap one edge and lay it flat while still holding it firmly in place. Run the adhesive runner over the edge of the decorative paper wrapper. I find it easiest to apply the glue to the edge that is held flat on the candy bar. bring the opposite end of the wrapper around the side of the bar and press into place. Try and keep the wrapper snug around the candy. As soon as the edges meet and overlap the adhesive will hold it in place.Step Three: Print you birth announcement photos and wording. You can print your baby photos out onto photo paper if you must. I find that printing them onto plain white paper works fine too. Just make sure and put your printer settings to their highest quality. Cut the photos to a small size to fit onto the candy wrapper. Printing the wording is easy too. A good way to do this is to set up a word processing document that has two columns. Type your wording out, resize it if necessary and pick out a nice font. Center all of the text as well. Now copy and paste it over and over on the same page. Make sure to keep a few inches distance between them for cutting. Print out the text and cut it into small rectangles. Do your best to keep equal margins around all four edges.
Step Three: Assemble all of the pieces. Use a glue stick to attach both the birth announcement wording and the baby photo. Cut a small length of ribbon and tie it in a bow around the middle of the candy bar. Done!
