Oversized Royal Wedding Invitation

Wedding Invitations Fit For A Queen

We wanted an invite that would really "Wow!" our guests, and we're having a black, red, and white wedding with a theme of "A Royal Wedding". Our over-sized classically embellished invite fit the bill perfectly!

List of Supplies

  • 8.5 by 11 inch black cardstock

  • 8.5 by 11 inch white cardstock

  • 8.5 by 11 inch printable vellum

  • red satin ribbon

  • a ribbon punch

  • rhinestones

Creating And Assembling The Invitations

I chose this design because it has a vintage edge to it but it still looks elegant all at the same time. You can find designs and clip art like this for sale online.

I started with the black and white cardstock papers. The black was a little more heavy than the white because the black cardstock is the backing layer and the white is the invitation layer.

The cardstock is all one size (8.5 X 11). The black cardstock was simply cut in half (in the orientation setup).

I created the invite wording in MS Word using the same size paper but making text boxes that were about 7.82 X 5 in size. I cut these out and adhere them to the black backing layer with glue dots.

I then printed the clear vellum (8.5 X 11) with the custom monogram on both sides (left and right) and lined them up while punching holes with a ribbon paper punch in the top for the red satin ribbon.

I think the ribbon really pulls everything together, and makles the colors "pop".

I also decided to add a little bling to the monogram with stick on rhinestones. This says royalty!!!! I hope you ladies like them just as much as I do. I am very proud of my work. :-)

These are great invitations. They look professional. I would love to copy this for my wedding but I am getting married in a Castle and have the Castle on the vellum on top with the wording under and also a ribbon but the crystal I like and might use it. I rate this invite a 10. Good job.
